With the stay-at-home orders in place, there is an increase in domestic violence. This is true around the country. Specifically, in our own area, Houston Police Chief Acevedo stated on April 2nd that there is an increase in domestic assault, although some other types of crime in the area have decreased.
Anyone can be the victim of domestic violence, no matter what their age or gender.
In cases of domestic violence, the victim is often isolated from others. The stay-at-home orders make it even more difficult to have a support system outside of the home.
If you are experiencing domestic violence, you should be aware of your rights and options. Talking it through with someone can give you hope, and help you make a safety plan.
If you are experiencing domestic violence and would like to speak to an attorney about your options, give us a call to set up a consultation. We are offering free consultations for the months of April and May, 2020.
